Why Vilnius?

Even though Vilnius will celebrate its 700th birthday on January 25, 2023, its success story dates back to 1323, when Duke Gediminas invited people from all across Europe to live, create, and settle in Vilnius.

This anniversary is significant not only for the city and the country, but also for the whole Europe, where cities work together to support and nurture democratic values, human rights, equal opportunities, innovation, and, most importantly, the fight for freedom that Ukraine is leading right now.
